Interested in exploring innovations in teaching and learning? Using a new technology? Redesigning your instructional activities? The IDIC is here to help. The mission of the instructional Design and Innovation Center (IDIC) at Red Rocks Community College is to guide and support faculty and staff to integrate technology into the classroom.

The staff is knowledgeable in instructional design – the practice of organizing instructional media and content to help learners and faculty transfer knowledge more effectively. We have compiled a number of resources to help as you develop and teach your courses.

The IDIC Lab is available with educational technology for all faculty and staff to use multimedia equipment and lecture capture facilities.

Anne Banister - Videographer

Anne began her career in television and radio broadcast operations as a freelance journalist and administrative producer for news and sports operations including Fox Sports and ESPN. Inspired by the people and the beauty of Colorado Anne made Denver her permanent home in 2009.  In 2010 she began working at Red Rocks Community College as an adjunct instructor with the Motion Graphics Department teaching video production and journalism courses. Seeing the powerful role video can have in educating and inspiring positive social change Anne started her own company in 2013 with the mission of collaborating with organizations and individuals on short-format education, non-fiction documentary, and outreach multimedia productions. Her education background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Waynesburg University in Communication and Service Leadership and a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Denver in International and Intercultural Communication. As the full-time videographer in eLearning, Anne will be collaborating with the various campus departments to produce videos that promote the opportunities and initiatives offered by RRCC. She looks forward to establishing new relationships and bringing her passion and expertise of production to create engaging and educational tools for the college. She is available for the content creation and distribution of any video related request you have for your department or program.

Jon Johnson - Director of Instructional Technology and eLearning

Jon Johnson is a certified Quality Matters course evaluator and has extensive experience developing online learning systems, designing and maintaining websites, and providing technical support services to faculty, staff, and students in a higher education setting. He has experience building online classes using Desire2Learn, eCollege, Blackboard Vista and Academic Suite. Jon Johnson currently works as the Director of Instructional Technology and eLearning at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado.

Kai Savi - Instructional Designer

Kai is a certified Quality Matters Peer Reviewer and Instructional Designer in the office of Instructional Technology and eLearning. A former college biology teacher, Kai has experience teaching General Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, and Anatomy & Physiology. She has her PhD in Higher Education, with a focus on Adult Studies/Teaching and Learning.  Kai has designed and built courses in the Desire2Learn and Blackboard Learning Management Systems.  She enjoys delivering innovative education and training for student and faculty success utilizing a broad range of interactive and intuitive instructional methods. She is also a die-hard SciFi fan, and all around science nerd. Stop by anytime to chat.
