The Human Resources Office offers a variety of training opportunities for employees of Red Rocks Community College including Supervisors Training, Diversity Training, Sexual Harassment Awareness and Workplace Violence Awareness. Please contact your HR Representative to schedule a training session or to have access to any training resources.

Spring 2017 RRCC Development Training Calendar

Intercultural Competence Level 1
This training is the first in a six-part series that will explore how cultural differences impact our interactions with our students, co-workers, and community. One level will be added each year for the next 6 years. In level I, we will define culture and discuss the elements of culture that affect interactions, increase our cultural self-awareness, and identify the impact of communication styles on interactions across cultures.

Option 1:  Wednesday, February 15th, 1:00 – 4:00, Sandstone Room
Option 2:  Thursday, March 9th, 9:00 – 12:00, Sandstone Room

Intercultural Competence Level 2
The second part of our six-part series focuses in intercultural competence focuses on personality styles. Participants will take the PRI Identity Mapping Assessment, learn about their own personality style, other personality styles, and gain a sense of appreciation for styles different from their own. Participants must have completed Intercultural Competence Level 1 in order to attend this session.

Intercultural Competence Level 3 – NEW this semester
Part three of our training series will guide participants through exercises in understanding identity, beliefs, attitudes, and valued in cultural context, help them to articulate their personal and cultural values, and introduce the concept of privilege as it relates to identity and membership in various cultural groups. Participants must have completed Intercultural Competence Levels 1 & 2 in order to attend this session.

Dream Zone
Undocumented students face many barriers in higher education, not the least of which is stigma attached to their citizenship status. This training will provide you with the tools and resources to better serve our undocumented students and help you to become a better ally to this community of learners.

Green Zone
Ensuring academic success for all student populations is a priority for academic institutions. This course identifies who and what a veteran is, and provides an understanding of what strengths and barriers veterans possess that may either benefit or hinder their academic success. Learners will be provided with insights into the symptoms of PTSD and TBI, and how to respond to veterans who are confronted with these barriers. Additionally, learners will be provided tips to facilitate academic success through classroom management and linkage to resources.
